Providing Access to Trans Healthcare (PATH)
Increasing Direct Care Access
The PATH program offers financial assistance to transgender and gender-diverse members of the Charlotte metro area for general and gender-affirming healthcare. The current program offers free case management, mental health services, and limited prescription coverage. For more details about the program, contact us or check out our FAQ page.
To be eligible for PATH funding you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Transgender or Gender Diverse
- 16 years of age or older
- Resident of Charlotte Metro area including Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Rowan, and Union Counties in NC, and Chester, Lancaster and York Counties in SC.
- Uninsured or under-insured (i.e., unable to afford cost of services, whether it is a co-pay, deductible, or out-of-pocket expense, or insurance plan that does not cover needed services).
Note: PATH Alumni (former PATH clients) are eligible to reapply for program services 12 months after their prior discharge.
- Case management
- Up to 15 therapy sessions
- Free group therapy
- Short-term psychiatry support
- Limited pharmacy allowance
- Linkage to affirming medical care
- Linkage to resources for other food, financial, and social services and supports

Our Impact in Action
- In 2024 we served 139 uninsured and underinsured TGD people.
- Provided over $250,000 in services
- Provided 1,620 hours of individual and group therapy
- 79% of PATH clients showed improvement in mental health symptoms after 6 months of program participation
Transforming Care, Changing Lives
- Educated 485 healthcare providers and administrators at 14 presentations:
- 93% of whom reported that the training increased their knowledge of affirming language
- 91% of whom reported that they intend to change their practice to create a welcoming environment for TGD people.
